I'm a blue soldier Just somewhat older Fight for the Union That's just assuming That they figured out how to go back in time Right to a place where you can find uniforms reasonably priced Then I'd buy a real wool union cap and dress A gun I'll figure out the rest Eat beans unseasonably spiced I'm a blue soldier I'm a blue soldier I'm a blue soldier Just somewhat older Fight for the Union That's just assuming They lowered the height requirement back then 1858 Remington almost blew off my underwear And sky blue baggy trousers I'm concerned Let's say I'm shot taken prisoner While wearing nothing under there I'm a blue soldier I'm a blue soldier I'm a blue soldier Just somewhat older Fight for the Union That's just assuming I'm a blue soldier I'm a blue soldier

Tennessee's fine but Kentucky's preferred A double straight up and not to be Disturbed When I first came here I was Was just a lad Down In Gettysburg just me Me and my dad Then the days didn't seem short No problems or bills to sort And the nights lasted all day A man of the ages would say Some years had passed when I I had returned With my fiancée to old Gettysburg Walked passed the toy shop I I used to go No longer the boy that I I used to know But the days, weren't that short Minimal problems to sort And the nights lasted all day A man of the ages would say That the days, they're growing short Filled with more problems to sort And the nights feel like the days A man of the ages would say Now I'm a Dad with 2 kids of my own Made some money bought a house and took a loan I brought my son back to old Gettysburg Swallowed two bourbons and Wrote down these words That the days, they're growing short Filled with more problems to sort And the nights feel like the days A man of the ages would say

about

Gettysburg Vinny is a conceptual collection of songs and comedic spoken word tracks. The story concerns Long Island surf guitarist Vincent Daverino’s fictional battle against his father and the music purists who demand that Beachfront Vinny’s genre-bending trop rock comedy not be considered surf, trop, Americana, or any other genre, “as no decent genre would ever have such a vile man as a member”.

On the album, Beachfront Vinny furthers his quest to substantiate the “Surfianca” genre, an original blend of americana, trop rock, surf rock guitar, beach harmonies, and island music. However, his father, Vincent Daverino Sr. and the tribute band music purists in the High Surf Council believe that Vinny doesn’t belong in any genre, and the battle of Gettysburg Vinny between music purists and fans of Beachfront Vinny’s genre bending surf rock comedy ensued. The album contains 5 singles. The first, “Going’ Getty”, is a blend of americana, surf guitar, trop rock, and east cost rhymes that features the fine fiddling of Canadian award winning musician Ray Legere. “Blue Soldier”, featuring Alan Jax Bowers on drums, is an original and classic surf rock sounding track that contains humorous lyrics about the singer’s age, height, and fears of being captured while not wearing any underwear. “Man of The Ages”, with Jax on drums again, is a psychedelic trop rock tune with americana styled songwriting about the singer’s return to Gettysburg as a child, a young adult, and finally a parent with his own son. “Can’t Be Your Son”, featuring Ray Legere on mandolin, is a bluegrass influenced surf acoustic tropicana track about the singer’s inability to be an adult son to a selfish and unloving parent. Finally, “Cut Down”, sung immediately after being “shot” on the battlefield in the previous track (“Bloody Angle”), is the album’s penultimate track about the singer giving in at the end. The remaining tracks are comedic some work tracks explaining the story.
